New user interface for FS Pro 2013

Over the next 8 weeks, we will be providing you with a weekly update on the new features of FS Pro 2013. This new version of FS Pro will be released in November 2012.

#1 - New User Interface

The user interface of FS Pro 2013 has been redesigned to meet the needs of specific target audiences. We now offer 2 modes: Expert Mode and Assisted Mode

2 ways to use FS Pro 2013

  • Expert Mode is an interface that is very similar to what advanced FS Pro users already know from FS Pro 4.2. However, certain functions have been renamed to increase consistency and many buttons have been positioned more logically to help the user find them faster and easier.

  • Assisted Mode is an interface that starts from the Information Types. This mode lets novice users who have completed an Information Mapping course think about the type of information they are writing, thus helping them to apply their acquired knowledge in the software. Assisted Mode comes with a strict live validation, so the software really helps the writer to use Information Mapping® correctly.

I have watched the video and in the mean time studied the ribbon. Looks much more user friendly and easier to understand.

Good thing the Font Manager is integrated in the ribbon. I just hope the manager will be less cumbersome to use compared to the one in 4.2

Just a little question. Is changing the language still dependent on the language settings from Word or did you find another solution. I am asking this as in Belgium people have to work in French, Dutch and English and this caused problems in the past if you did not set the languages in the right order....

Hi Kaat,

With regards to your question about languages: FS Pro 2013 no longer depends on the document language set in Word. Right now, when you change the language in the language dropdown in the FS Pro 2013 ribbon, not only the ribbon labels but also table headers (for new tables) and Continued text are immediately translated. In FS Pro 4.2 that was not the case.

So this is a usability improvement that will definitely make FS Pro 2013 easier to use for people who often write in multiple languages.

Is it possible for you to provide some guide videos featuring Word 7? I have downloaded the new software but can not find it anywhere within Word 7 to start using it. Can you please help. Many thanks.

One of my team has purchased and is trying to install FS Pro 2013 but the menu never displays in Word so she can't activate it or even try to use it. We have followed all the trouble shooting, making sure she has admin rights, have tried enabling it in Word Addons, etc to no avail. This is really frustrating and makes us leery of buying the upgrade for the rest of us.
